Admissions Criteria

Admission to the Statler College is based on high school GPA and math placement. Students must also meet all other WVU admission requirements. Once admitted, students work with their academic advisor to create their degree plan and semester schedules based on initial math placement and specific degree requirements.

Undergraduate Admission Requirements

Engineering

Incoming students who are interested in pursuing a degree in an engineering discipline and achieve a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA or meet entry requirements to College Algebra (MATH 126) will be admitted to the Statler College.

Computing Programs

Incoming students who are interested in pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity and achieve a 3.00 cumulative high school GPA or meet entry requirements to College Algebra (MATH 126) will be admitted to the Statler College AND directly admitted to their intended major.

Engineering Technology

Any incoming students entering under regular or transfer admissions that meet WVU admission requirements are directly admitted to the Statler College and into the Engineering Technology major.

Admissions will be based on the highest math sub-score submitted (ACT or SAT), and the highest GPA printed on high school transcripts.

AP Scores and More

AP, IB, PLTW, and Transfer Credit - Many incoming freshmen are eligible to receive credit from Advanced Placement, dual enrollment, or other types of college courses completed while in high school. Click the links below to learn more about the different ways incoming freshmen may earn WVU credit prior to enrolling.

Transfer Admission Requirements

Any incoming transfer student interested in pursuing a degree in an engineering or computing program, internal or external to WVU, will be admitted to the Statler College once they meet the WVU Math Department’s requirements of starting in at least Pre-Calculus (MATH 129) and have a cumulative 2.25 college GPA or higher.”

Any incoming transfer student interested in pursuing a degree in Engineering Technology, internal or external to WVU, will be directly admitted to the Statler College

Any student transferring in with less than 24 credit hours and who do not meet the above transfer criteria will be evaluated based on the regular admission criteria.

Graduate Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission into a graduate program at WVU an applicant must submit official bachelor’s degree transcripts from a regionally accredited institution and hold a GPA of at least 2.75.

WVU operates decentralized admissions. Decentralized admission allows each graduate program to set its own application requirements in addition to the University requirements.
