David Martinelli, Dave Solley, Nick Wu and Fanny Ye received awards for teaching, advising and research

Gene Cilento , Glen H. Hiner Dean of the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University, announced the winners of the College's outstanding teacher, adviser and researcher awards for 2016-2017. The awards were handed out at the College's annual Honors Ceremony, which took place on April 7.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.—

David Martinelli, professor of civil and environmental engineering, was named the College’s teacher of the year. Also recognized for outstanding teaching were Katerina Goseva-Popstojanova, Vinodkrishnan Kulathumani and Natalia Schmid from the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, and Jason Gross from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

Dave Solley, program coordinator with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering was named the College’s Outstanding Advisor. Dale Dzielski from the Lane Department, Udaya Halabe from civil and environmental engineering, Alice Noble from Fundamentals of Engineering and Nithi Sivaneri from mechanical and aerospace engineering were also recognized for their advising efforts.

Nianqiang Wu, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, was named Researcher of the Year/Senior. Hota GangaRao from civil and environmental engineering, and David Klinke and Fernando Lima from chemical and biomedical engineering , were also recognized.

Yanfang Ye from the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering was named Researcher of the Year/Junior.
